Whether you're looking to safeguard bumper yields or to protect your crop’s full cash value, our plans are designed to fit your operation.
Coverage is typically available up to the full cash value of your crop—giving you the flexibility to choose the level of protection that fits your operation.
And where available, our Crop-Hail policies go beyond hail damage—offering added protection for risks like vehicle damage, vandalism, malicious mischief, fire and transit losses—included with your policy.
Basic Hail Coverage
- No deductible
- Covers physical hail damage up to the crop’s actual cash value
- Paid on an acre-by-acre basis—even if only part of a field is affected
Deductible Hail Coverage
- Deductibles from 5% to 30%
- Pays once damage exceeds your selected deductible
- Acre-by-acre coverage
- Some plans offer increased payment options or disappearing deductibles
Companion Hail Coverage
- Deductibles from 0% to 15%
- Supplements your MPCI policy
- Covers the portion of your crop not protected by MPCI
- Uses a multiplier to calculate payment once damage exceeds the deductible
- Acre-by-acre coverage, with indemnity capped at 100%
Production Plan Hail Coverage
- Supplements your MPCI policy.
- Pays the lesser of field loss or production loss.
- Coverage is unit-based.
- Available for select crops in select states.
Auto-Hail Option
- Looking for a hassle-free renewal? Our Auto-Hail program automatically renews your Crop-Hail coverage each year—no new application needed.
- Note: Auto-Hail is only available in select states and for certain crops. You must also carry MPCI coverage with Great American.
Endorsements
We offer a range of endorsements designed to tailor protection to your operation. For example:
- Wind and Green Snap coverage helps safeguard your grain, seed and sweet corn from wind-related losses.
- Extra Harvest Expense coverage can help with unexpected expenses of harvesting downed crops with both 5% and 8% option.
- Replant Coverage Endorsement provides protection on the very first acre of loss.
- Endorsements are available for select crops and states.
