DTN Early Word Grains 09/01 05:59 Another Month, Same Story December corn was 2 cents lower, November soybeans were 5 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 2 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 2 cents lower, November soybeans were 5 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 2 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Like so many other days since mid-July, grains are trading mostly lower in the early morning hours. However, soybeans were able to cut overnight losses in half while corn contracts were near mid-range. Another round of bearish economic news out of China had global markets on the defensive Tuesday morning. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 114.98 points lower Monday at 16,528.03. DJIA futures were 340 points lower. Asian markets were lower with the Nikkei down 724.79 points at 18,165.69 while China's Shanghai Composite was down 39.36 points. European markets were also lower. The U.S. dollar index was down 0.307 at 95.517. Crude oil was $0.71 lower at $48.49 while Brent crude was $1.002 lower at $53.13. December gold was $9.70 higher at $1,142.20. Soybeans at the Dalian Exchange and Malaysian palm oil futures were higher.
