DTN Early Word Grains 09/14 05:57 Grains Hold Gains Through Early Monday December corn was 2 cents higher, November soybeans were 6 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 2 cents higher, November soybeans were 6 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains were holding on to small gains early Monday morning, though contracts of all three markets were off overnight session highs. Follow-through buying from Friday's USDA reports supported the corn market, though attention should quickly turn back to weather and harvest. Soybeans moved almost 9 cents higher before falling back a bit. Outside markets were mixed though energies and metals were mostly lower. DJIA futures were higher despite renewed selling in China's stock markets. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 102.69 points higher Friday at 16,433.09. DJIA futures were 41 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mixed with the Nikkei down 298.52 points at 17,965.70. China's Shanghai Composite was down 85.44 points (2.7%). European markets were also mixed. The U.S. dollar index was up 0.004 at 95.198. Crude oil was $0.02 higher at $44.65 while Brent crude was $0.31 lower at $47.83. December gold was $2.90 higher at $1,106.20. Soybeans at China's Dalian Exchange were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher.
