DTN Early Word Grains 09/16 05:57 Grains Lower, Await Fed Meeting December corn was 3 cents lower, November soybeans were 1 cent lower, and December Chicago wheat was 4 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 3 cents lower, November soybeans were 1 cent lower, and December Chicago wheat was 4 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: The Federal Reserve starts its meeting on whether or not to raise interest rates Wednesday, putting most markets on hold overnight. Grains were lower in quiet trade early Wednesday morning. Outside markets were mostly higher with gold and crude oil both rallying despite another 0.100 gain in the U.S. dollar index. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 228.89 points higher Tuesday at 16,599.85. DJIA futures were 14 points lower overnight. Asian markets were higher with the Nikkei up 145.12 points at 18,171.60. China's Shanghai Composite posted a solid rally of 21.26 points (5.3%). European markets were also higher. The U.S. dollar index was up 0.117 at 95.728. Crude oil was $0.82 higher at $45.41 while Brent crude was $0.79 higher at $48.54. December gold was $5.20 higher at $1,107.70. Soybeans at China's Dalian Exchange and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower.
