By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 2 cents lower, November soybeans were fractionally lower, and December Chicago wheat was fractionally lower. CME Globex Recap: The Federal Reserve will announce its decision regarding the Fed Fund rate Thursday afternoon, answering the question that has dogged the markets since June: Are higher interest rates to be or not to be? Most market sectors were quiet overnight awaiting the announcement. The U.S. dollar index continued Wednesday's sell-off while DJIA futures were also lower. Gold and crude oil gave back a small part of Wednesday's sharp rallies. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 140.10 points higher Wednesday at 16,739.95. DJIA futures were 37 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with the Nikkei up 260.67 points at 18,432.27. China's Shanghai Composite was down 66.20 points (2.1%). European markets were mixed. The U.S. dollar index was down 0.192 at 95.228. Crude oil was $0.60 lower at $46.55 while Brent crude was $0.62 lower at $49.13. December gold was $1.40 lower at $1,117.60. Soybeans at China's Dalian Exchange were higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower.
