DTN Early Word Grains 09/29 05:56 Not So Turnaround Tuesday December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were 1 cent lower, and December Chicago wheat was 3 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were 1 cent lower, and December Chicago wheat was 3 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: After starting the overnight session to the plus-side, grains sank back below unchanged through early Tuesday morning. The "Glencore Effect" seemed to calm down allowing energies and DJIA futures to post modest rallies. The U.S. dollar index was down once again. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 312.78 points lower Monday at 16,001.89. The NASDAQ Composite posted a death-cross (bearish technical pattern) on its daily chart, similar to what was seen in the DJIA on August 11 when the index closed at 17,402.84. DJIA futures were 47 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with the Nikkei down 714.27 points at 16,930.84. China's Shanghai Composite was down 62.62 points (2.0%). European markets were also mostly lower. The U.S. dollar index was down 0.014 at 96.020. Crude oil was $0.41 higher at $44.84 while Brent crude was $0.39 higher at $47.73. December gold was $5.10 lower at $1,126.60. Soybeans at China's Dalian Exchange and Malaysian palm oil futures were both higher.
