DTN Early Word Grains 09/30 05:56 Waiting for the Splash December corn was 1 cent higher, November soybeans were 2 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 3 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent higher, November soybeans were 2 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 3 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains traded either side of unchanged overnight, sitting slightly higher ahead of USDA's Quarterly Stocks report. Wheat contracts actually showed the most strength early Wednesday, though then again it was the wheat complex that closed lower Tuesday. Outside markets were mostly lower while both DJIA futures and the U.S. dollar index showed solid gains. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 47.24 points higher Tuesday at 16,049.13. The NASDAQ Composite was down 26.65 points at 4,517.32. DJIA futures were 175 points higher overnight. Asian markets were higher with the Nikkei up 457.31 points at 17,388.15. China's Shanghai Composite was 2.59 points. European markets were mostly higher. The U.S. dollar index was up 0.281 at 96.136. Crude oil was $0.18 lower at $45.05 while Brent crude was $0.11 lower at $48.12. December gold was $4.40 lower at $1,122.40. Soybeans at China's Dalian Exchange were higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower after rallying six consecutive sessions.
