DTN Early Word Grains 10/05 05:57 Tis the Season December corn was 1 cent higher, November soybeans were 6 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 2 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent higher, November soybeans were 6 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 2 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: After opening lower Sunday evening, grains were trading higher with contracts near overnight session highs early Monday morning. Soybeans led the way with the November trading as much as 5 cents higher. However, trade volume was light for all three Chicago grain markets. Outside commodities also rallied with only gold moving lower. The U.S. dollar index was lower while DJIA futures extended Friday's impressive rally. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 200.36 points higher Friday at 16,472.37. The NASDAQ Composite was up 80.69 points at 4,707.77. DJIA futures were 55 points higher overnight. Asian markets were higher with the Nikkei up 280.36 points at 18,005.46 and China's Shanghai Composite was up 14.64 points. European markets were also higher. The U.S. dollar index was down 0.352 at 95.478. Crude oil was $0.60 higher at $46.14 while Brent crude was $0.64 higher at $48.77. December gold was $4.20 lower at $1,132.40. Malaysian palm oil futures were higher.
