DTN Early Word Grains 10/15 05:56 Thursday Could Be a Normal Wednesday December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were 1 cent higher, and December Chicago wheat 1 cent lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were 1 cent higher, and December Chicago wheat 1 cent lower. CME Globex Recap: Grain markets were mostly lower overnight with corn and wheat following through on Wednesday's activity. Soybeans posted a small rally on light trade volume. After establishing a "death-cross" technical signal on its daily chart Wednesday, the U.S. dollar index was able to rally 100 points. Crude oil continues to move lower as well. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 157.15 points lower Wednesday at 16,924.75. The NASDAQ Composite was down 13.76 points at 4,782.85. DJIA futures were 111 points higher overnight. Asian markets were higher with the Nikkei up 205.90 points at 18,096.90 while China's Shanghai Composite was 75.63 points higher. European markets were also higher. The U.S. dollar index was up 0.139 at 94.087 after posting a new 4-week low of 93.806. Crude oil was $0.66 lower at $45.98 while Brent crude was $0.32 lower at $48.83. December gold was $4.60 higher at $1,184.40. Dalian soybean futures were mostly higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower.
