DTN Early Word Grains 10/16 05:57 It's Finally Friday December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were fractionally higher, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were fractionally higher, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains were mostly higher overnight with buying seen in both soybeans and wheat. The rally in the U.S. soy complex was trimmed by selling in both Dalian soybeans and Malaysian palm oil though. Corn continues to grind lower, though off its overnight session low on light spillover buying from the other grains. The U.S. dollar index continued its rally by posting a solid gain of 0.300 overnight. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 217.00 points higher Thursday at 17,141.75. The NASDAQ Composite was up 87.25 points at 4,870.10. DJIA futures were 3 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with the Nikkei up 194.90 points at 18,291.80 while China's Shanghai Composite was 53.28 points higher. European markets were also higher. The U.S. dollar index was up 0.306 at 94.677. Crude oil was $0.52 higher at $46.90 while Brent crude was $0.34 higher at $50.07. December gold was $11.00 lower at $1,176.50. Dalian soybean futures were mostly lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower.
