Dark northern spring wheat basis gained another dime today. Aside from a tightening white wheat balance sheet, PNW export demand generally remains slow against a limited amount of farmer selling. Japan is in the market this week, seeking nearly 5 mb of U.S. and Canadian wheat for their November-December requirements. Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed a slower pace of shipments over the past week, with total US wheat loadings coming in near the 7.5 mb mark. Year-to-date shipments stand 19% behind a year ago at 314 mb. Top shipper for the week was hard red spring with 3 mb; hard red winter posted 2.3 mb and white wheat moved 1.9 mb. Basis..White wheat basis has held to a fairly tight range over the past 2 months, hitting a low of 55 over last week and advancing to near 70 over this week; about double the 10-year average. Hard red winter basis holds nearly 50 cents above the 10-year average at 115 over; hard red spring has moved back to 150 over today, breaking above the 10-year average by about a dime for the first time since late June. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2015 DTN/Telvent.
