DTN Early Word Grains 10/22 05:56 Wheat is Thursday's Breakfast of Champions December corn was 1 cent higher, November soybeans were 3 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 4 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent higher, November soybeans were 3 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 4 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains were higher overnight, led by wheat. No, that's not a joke. December Kansas City was 6 cents higher, Dec Minneapolis was up 5 cents, and the Chicago issue was 4 cents higher. By comparison, corn had only climbed 1 cent through early Thursday and November soybeans were up 3 cents. As one would expect, trade volume was relatively light in all but Nov beans. Outside markets were mostly higher with only gold posting a small loss. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 48.50 points lower Wednesday at 17,168.61. The NASDAQ Composite was down 40.85 points at 4,840.12. DJIA futures were 46 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with the Nikkei down 118.41 points at 18,435.87. However, China's Shanghai Composite was up 48.06 points (1.5%) as volatility remains high. European markets were also mostly lower. The U.S. dollar index was up 0.081 at 95.116. Crude oil was $0.49 higher at $45.69 while Brent crude was $0.52 higher at $48.37. December gold was $0.30 lower at $1,166.80. Dalian soybean futures were mostly lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher
