DTN Early Word Grains 10/28 05:57 Wednesday Means Coma Time for Grains December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were 1 cent lower, and December Chicago wheat was 4 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were 1 cent lower, and December Chicago wheat was 4 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Generally speaking, Wednesday's are quiet in the grain markets. The overnight session saw relatively low trade volume, except in December corn, where 11,300 contracts changed hands through early Wednesday morning. Grains slipped lower, with only bean oil holding above unchanged. Outside markets were mostly higher with both gold and crude oil posting gains due in part to a lower U.S. dollar index. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 41.62 points lower Tuesday at 17,581.43. The NASDAQ Composite was down 4.55 points at 5,030.15. DJIA futures were 28 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower though the Nikkei was up 125.98 points at 18,903.02 while China's Shanghai Composite was down 39.20 points. European markets were mostly higher. The U.S. dollar index was down 0.136 at 96.770. Crude oil was $0.33 higher at $43.53 while Brent crude was $0.44 higher at $47.25. December gold was $6.00 higher at $1,171.80. Dalian soybean futures were mixed while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher.
