DTN Closing Livestock Comment 11/12 16:58 Live Cattle Futures Score Another Decent Round of Recovery The cattle complex settled significantly higher in the live market but just mixed in the feeder trade. With the exception of spot December, lean hog futures closed solidly higher with February catching the most buying interest. By John Harrington DTN Livestock Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: Although we saw the playing field take more definition in terms of bids and asking prices, the cash cattle trade remained at a complete standstill. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base is $0.11 higher compared with the Prior Day settlement ($50.00-$52.50, weighted average $51.89). The corn market close fractionally mixed at the conclusion of a fairly featureless round of trading. U.S. stocks closed more than 1% lower, pressured from sharp declines in oil prices. The Dow plunged by 254 points with the Nasdaq down 61.
