DTN Early Word Grains 11/16 06:04 Grains Start the Week Quietly Lower December corn was unchanged, January soybeans were 1 cent lower, and December Chicago wheat was 3 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was unchanged, January soybeans were 1 cent lower, and December Chicago wheat was 3 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Grain markets took a back seat to overseas markets overnight as traders weighed in on last Friday's events in Paris. Asian stock markets stabilized after a sharp early sell-off while gold and the U.S. dollar index both rallied on flight-to-safety style trade. Crude oil was tentatively higher as well. As for grains, wheat and soybeans were lower while corn held near unchanged. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 254.15 points lower Thursday at 17,448.07. The NASDAQ Composite was down 61.94 points at 5,005.08. DJIA futures were 26 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with the Nikkei down 203.22 points at 19,393.69 and China's Shanghai Composite was up 26.12 points. European markets were mixed. The U.S. dollar index was up 0.296 at 99.100. Crude oil was $0.68 higher at $41.42 while Brent crude was $0.48 higher at $44.95. December gold was $10.80 higher at $1,091.70. Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both showing solid losses.
