DTN Early Word Grains 11/17 05:58 Grains Quietly Mixed Early Tuesday December corn was 1 cent higher, January soybeans were 1 cent higher, and December Chicago wheat was 2 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent higher, January soybeans were 1 cent higher, and December Chicago wheat was 2 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Grains were quiet again overnight with trade volume low for all three major markets. Corn and soybeans saw light follow-through buying from Monday, while Chicago wheat continued to edge lower. Outside markets continue to see heavier trade, with DJIA futures posting a strong rally in response to Monday's sharply higher close. The U.S. dollar index remains firm, putting pressure on both metals and energies. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 237.77 points higher Monday at 17,483.01. The NASDAQ Composite was up 56.74 points at 4,984.62. DJIA futures were 98 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with the Nikkei up 236.94 points at 19,630.63 and China's Shanghai Composite was down 2.16 points. European markets were also mostly higher. The U.S. dollar index was up 0.039 at 99.481. Crude oil was $0.17 lower at $41.57 while Brent crude was $0.07 higher at $44.63. December gold was $3.60 lower at $1,080.00. Dalian soybean futures were lower and Malaysian palm oil futures were mixed.
