DTN Early Word Grains 12/07 05:52 Grains Start Week Mixed March corn was 1 cent lower, January soybeans were 1 cent higher, and March Chicago wheat was 4 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was 1 cent lower, January soybeans were 1 cent higher, and March Chicago wheat was 4 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: The U.S. dollar index continues to confound, posting a solid rally after establishing bearish technical signals again last week. This rally had commodities in general under pressure with gold and crude oil both lower. Grains were mixed with light buying seen in soybeans and the wheat complex, while corn and soybean meal were lower. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 369.96 points higher Friday at 17,847.63. The NASDAQ Composite was up 104.74 points at 5,142.27. DJIA futures were 32 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mixed with the Nikkei up 193.67 points at 19,698.15 and China's Shanghai Composite up 11.94 points. European markets were higher. The U.S. dollar index was up 0.413 at 98.767. Crude oil was $0.58 lower at $39.39 while Brent crude was $0.30 lower at $42.70. February gold was $1.40 lower at $1,082.70. Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both higher.
