DTN Early Word Grains 12/10 05:57 Grains Quiet, Mostly Lower Early Thursday March corn was fractionally higher, January soybeans were 1 cent lower, and March Chicago wheat was 2 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was fractionally higher, January soybeans were 1 cent lower, and March Chicago wheat was 2 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Grain markets didn't do much overnight with corn posting a 1 cent trading range and soybeans moving within a 3 1/2 cent range. Chicago wheat was a little more active with a 5 cent range. Investor attention remains on the energy complex with markets at lowest price levels since 2009. Crude oil was down again, dipping below $37.00 overnight. DJIA futures were higher as equities try to stop their slide Thursday. The U.S. dollar index was posting a solid 0.500 rally. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 75.70 points lower Wednesday at 17,492.30. The NASDAQ Composite was down 75.37 points at 5,022.87. DJIA futures were 73 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with the Nikkei down 254.52 points at 19,046.55 and China's Shanghai Composite was off 16.94 points. European markets were mixed. The U.S. dollar index was up 0.427 at 97.772. Crude oil was $0.10 lower at $37.06 while Brent crude was $0.09 higher at $40.20. February gold was $4.60 lower at $1,071.90. Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower.
