DTN Early Word Grains 12/22 05:57 Turnaround Tuesday March corn was fractionally higher, January soybeans were 3 cents higher, and March Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was fractionally higher, January soybeans were 3 cents higher, and March Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. CME Globex Recap: Metals were higher Monday and are lower early Tuesday morning. Grains and energies (except for natural gas) started the wee lower and are now trading higher. The U.S. dollar index is lower again and not by much, likewise DJIA futures are only showing a small gain and could easily turn lower. That leaves livestock as the question mark sector to follow-through on Monday's strong rally. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 123.07 points higher Monday at 17,251.62. The NASDAQ Composite was up 45.84 points at 4,968.92. DJIA futures were 12 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher though the Nikkei was down 29.32 points at 18,886.70 while China's Shanghai Composite rallied 9.30 points. European markets were mixed. The U.S. dollar index was down 0.020 at 98.343. Crude oil was $0.15 higher at $35.96 while Brent crude was $0.07 higher at $36.42. February gold was $4.20 lower at $1,076.40. Dalian soybean futures were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher.
