DTN Early Word Grains 12/23 06:00 Strange Day Indeed March corn was 1 cent higher, January soybeans were 1 cent higher, and March Chicago wheat was 2 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was 1 cent higher, January soybeans were 1 cent higher, and March Chicago wheat was 2 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Early Wednesday was one of those strange days when almost every market on the board was higher. Gold, silver, and cocoa were the exceptions. As for grains, all three Chicago markets were showing gains on light trade volume. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 165.65 points higher Tuesday at 17,417.27. The NASDAQ Composite was up 32.19 points at 5,001.11. DJIA futures were 37 points higher overnight. Asian and European markets were both mostly higher. The U.S. dollar index was up 0.080 at 98.315. Crude oil was $0.38 higher at $36.52 while Brent crude was $0.40 higher at $36.51. February gold was $2.80 lower at $1,071.30. Dalian soybean futures were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher.
