By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was 1/2 cent higher, March soybeans were 6 1/4 cents lower, and March Chicago wheat was 2 3/4 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Winter Storm Goliath has pulverized parts of the U.S. Southern Plains and is forecast to spread its wrath across the U.S. Midwest Monday. Rain, sleet and snow are expected to snarl traffic and commerce, though markets in general are expected to be little affected. Grains were mixed overnight with soybeans lower on rains in parts of Brazil while corn was quietly higher. Winter wheat markets were higher. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 50.44 points lower Thursday at 17,552.17. The NASDAQ Composite was up 2.56 points at 5,048.49. DJIA futures were 58 point lower overnight. Asian markets were mixed with the Nikkei up 104.29 points at 18,873.35 while China's Shanghai composite was down 80.93 points. Many European markets were closed for holiday, with those that were open showing mixed results. The U.S. dollar index was down 0.030 at 97.817. Crude oil was $0.92 lower at $37.18 while Brent crude was $0.71 lower at $37.18. February gold was $4.60 lower at $1,071.30. Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures both showed solid losses.
