DTN Early Word Grains 12/29 06:04 After the Storm March corn was 1/2 cent lower, March soybeans were 7 cents higher, and March Chicago wheat was 5 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was 1/2 cent lower, March soybeans were 7 cents higher, and March Chicago wheat was 5 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Most of the U.S. Midwest is feeling good to be out of the rain, and ice, and snow, etc. associated with the winter storm that has moved north into Minnesota and Wisconsin. Overnight trade saw soybeans recover some of Monday's sharp sell-off while corn was lower and wheat was higher. Outside markets were mostly higher with both metals and energies showing gains. All eyes will be on natural gas to see if it can stay as hot following Monday's 20-cent rally. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 23.90 points lower Monday at 17,528.27. The NASDAQ Composite was down 7.50 points at 5,040.99. DJIA futures were 76 point higher overnight. Asian markets were higher with the Nikkei up 108.88 points at 18,982.23 while China's Shanghai composite rallied 21.47 points. European markets were also higher. The U.S. dollar index was up 0.097 at 98.016. Crude oil was $0.12 higher at $36.93 while Brent crude was $0.14 higher at $36.76. February gold was $0.80 higher at $1,069.10. Dalian soybean futures were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher.
