DTN Early Word Grains 01/13 05:59 The Day After March corn was fractionally lower, March soybeans were unchanged, and March Chicago wheat was 3 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was fractionally lower, March soybeans were unchanged, and March Chicago wheat was 3 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Grains were mostly lower early Wednesday, the day after the release of USDA's January reports. Not surprisingly, wheat led the way while corn and soybeans showed only fractional changes following a quiet overnight session. Outside markets also calmed down a bit, allowing crude oil to rally back above $31 after dropping below $30 briefly Tuesday. The U.S. dollar index continued to rally, as did DJIA futures overnight. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 117.65 higher at 16,516.22 Tuesday while the NASDAQ Composite was up 47.93 points at 4,685.92. DJIA futures were 99 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with the Nikkei up 496.67 points (2.9%) while China's Shanghai Composite was off 73.26 points (2.4%). European markets were higher once again. The U.S. dollar index was up 0.216 at 99.190. Crude oil was $0.76 higher at $31.21 while Brent crude was $0.78 higher at $31.64. February gold was $3.10 lower at $1,082.10. Dalian soybean and Malaysian palm oil futures were both higher.
