DTN Early Word Grains 01/15 05:56 Red Friday March corn was fractionally lower, March soybeans were 5 cents lower, and March Chicago wheat was 1 cent lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was fractionally lower, March soybeans were 5 cents lower, and March Chicago wheat was 1 cent lower. CME Globex Recap: Global markets were under pressure again with selling seen in Asian and European stock markets, DJIA futures, the U.S. dollar index, and grains. Crude oil extended its move below $30, putting pressure on the rest of the energy complex. Gold was one of the few markets showing green early Friday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 277.64 higher at 16,379.05, the NASDAQ Composite was up 88.94 points at 4,615.00, and the S&P 500 rallied 31.556 points to 1,921.84 Thursday. DJIA futures were 254 points lower overnight. Asian markets were lower with the Nikkei down 93.84 points (0.5%) and China's Shanghai Composite was off 106.68 points (3.6%). European markets were also lower. The U.S. dollar index was down 0.130 at 98.940. Crude oil was $1.56 lower at $29.64 while Brent crude was $1.15 lower at $29.73. Both posted new lows overnight. February gold was $7.40 higher at $1,081.00. Dalian soybean futures were mixed while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher.
