DTN Early Word Grains 01/19 05:58 Turnaround Tuesday...Kind of March corn was 4 cents higher, March soybeans were 6 cents higher, and March Chicago wheat was 5 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was 4 cents higher, March soybeans were 6 cents higher, and March Chicago wheat was 5 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Though U.S. markets were closed for holiday Monday, global markets were open and under pressure. However, these same markets were showing gains early Tuesday despite reports that China's Q4 growth rate came in at 6.8%, with the total for 2015 at 6.9%. This would be the slowest in 25 years. However, strong commercial buying continued to support soybeans with corn and wheat seeing spillover interest. Energy markets were also rallying despite a stronger U.S. dollar index. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 390.97 lower at 15,988.08, the NASDAQ Composite was down 126.58 points at 4,488.42, and the S&P 500 fell 41.51 points to 1,880.33 Friday. DJIA futures were 244 points higher overnight. Asian markets were higher with the Nikkei up 92.80 points (0.6%) and China's Shanghai Composite rallied 93.90 points (3.2%). European markets were also higher. The U.S. dollar index was up 0.246 at 99.202. Crude oil was $0.52 higher at $29.94 while Brent crude was $1.33 higher at $29.88. February gold was $3.10 lower at $1,087.60. Dalian soybean futures were and Malaysian palm oil futures were both higher.
