By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was fractionally higher, March soybeans were fractionally lower, and March Chicago wheat was fractionally higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains were within fractions of Wednesday's closes as traders continue to focus on equities. Wednesday saw the DJIA post a 1,000-point session (500 down, 400 up, 100 down) with more volatility expected Thursday. European markets stabilized early in the day, ahead of scheduled comments from the President of the European Central Bank Draghi. Energies and metals were both mostly lower despite a slight sell-off seen in the U.S. dollar index. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 249.28 lower at 15,766.74, the NASDAQ Composite was down 5.26 points at 4,471.69, and the S&P 500 fell 22.00 points to close at 1,859.33 Wednesday. DJIA futures were 103 points lower overnight. Asian markets were lower again with the Nikkei down 398.93 points (2.4%) and China's Shanghai Composite off 96.21 points (3.2%). European markets were mostly higher with the FTSE 100 up 24.25 points. The U.S. dollar index was down 0.060 at 99.031. Crude oil was $0.36 lower at $27.99 while Brent crude was $0.25 lower at $27.63. February gold was $6.40 lower at $1,099.80. Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower.
