DTN Early Word Grains 01/25 06:04 A Quiet Monday Morning March corn was fractionally lower, March soybeans were 1 cent lower, and March Chicago wheat was 3 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was fractionally lower, March soybeans were 1 cent lower, and March Chicago wheat was 3 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Corn and soybeans were unable to hold initial gains overnight, with contracts of both markets lower early Monday morning and near session lows. Some of the pressure was likely tied to outside markets with the energy complex turning lower. The U.S. dollar index and DJIA futures were both posting small losses. Gold and wheat were two markets that were able to show gains early Monday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 210.83 higher at 16,093.51, the NASDAQ Composite was up 119.12 points at 4,591.18, and the S&P 500 gained 37.91 points to close at 1,906.90 Friday. DJIA futures were 51 points lower overnight. Asian markets were higher with the Nikkei up 152.38 points (0.9%) and China's Shanghai Composite gaining 3.48 points (0.2%). European markets were mostly higher though the FTSE 100 was down 3.24 points. The U.S. dollar index was 0.124 lower at 99.450. Crude oil was down $0.99 at $31.20 while Brent crude fell $0.85 to $31.33. February gold was $8.40 higher at $1,104.70. Dalian soybean futures were mostly lower.
