DTN Early Word Grains 01/26 05:56 An Opposite-of-Monday Tuesday Morning March corn was fractionally lower, March soybeans were 3 cents lower, and March Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was fractionally lower, March soybeans were 3 cents lower, and March Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. CME Globex Recap: Global markets have flip-flopped directions from Monday, making this a typical -- well, you know. Grains traded both sides of unchanged during the overnight session before showing losses early Tuesday morning. On the other hand, energy contracts were gaining back a small portion of Monday's sharp sell-off. China's Shanghai Composite came under pressure again leading to a general sell-off in global equities. The U.S. dollar index and gold were both holding small gains. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 208.29 lower at 15,885.22, the NASDAQ Composite was down 72.69 points at 4,518.49, and the S&P 500 lost 29.82 points to close at 1,877.08 Monday. DJIA futures were 32 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with the Nikkei down 402.01 points (2.4%) and China's Shanghai Composite off 188.73 points (6.4%). European markets were also mostly lower with London's FTSE 100 down 43.32 points. The U.S. dollar index was 0.068 higher at 99.428. Crude oil was up $0.06 at $30.40 while Brent crude rallied $0.13 to $30.63. February gold was $7.30 higher at $1,112.50. Dalian soybean futures were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher.
