DTN Early Word Grains 02/22 06:01 Markets are Green, It Must Be Spring March corn was 3 cents higher, March soybeans were 6 cents higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 3 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was 3 cents higher, March soybeans were 6 cents higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 3 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Most markets were in the green early Monday with gains seen in grains, energies, and financials. The only market showing a loss was gold, down a solid $26. Much of this was likely due to the almost 0.700 rally posted overnight by the U.S. dollar index. As for grains, most contracts were at or near session highs early Monday morning. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 21.44 points lower at 16,391.99, the NASDAQ Composite was up 16.89 points at 4,504.43, and the S&P 500 dipped 0.05 point to close at 1,917.78 Friday. DJIA futures were 190 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with the Nikkei up 143.88 points (0.9%) and China's Shanghai Composite rallied 67.15 points (2.4%). European markets were higher with London's FTSE 100 up 71.04 points (1.2%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.675 higher at 97.275. Crude oil was up $1.01 at $30.65 while Brent crude rallied $1.06 to $34.07. April gold was $26.30 lower at $1,204.50. China's Dalian soybean futures were higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower.
