DTN Early Word Grains 02/25 05:55 Grains Try To Rebound Ahead Of Export Sales May corn was 1 cent higher, May soybeans were 2 1/2 cents higher, and May Chicago wheat was 3 1/2 cents higher. By Todd Hultman DTN Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was 1 cent higher, May soybeans were 2 1/2 cents higher, and May Chicago wheat was 3 1/2 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: It's a case of more of the same in most markets early Thursday with grains and energies trading lower and gold rallying. The U.S. dollar index continues to firm as the debate over England leaving the European Union weakens the euro. As would be expected, at least in the current environment, DJIA futures followed global equity markets lower with the sector in general pressured by this week's renewed weakness in oil. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 53.21 points higher at 16,484.99, the NASDAQ Composite was up 39.03 points at 4,542.61, and the S&P 500 was up 8.53 points to close at 1,929.80 Wednesday. DJIA futures were 33 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mixed with the Nikkei up 110 points (0.7%) while China's Shanghai Composite dropped 188 points (6.4%). European markets were higher with London's FTSE 100 up 131.50 points (2.25%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.057 lower at 97.401. Crude oil was down $0.17 at $31.98 while Brent crude fell $0.28 to $34.13. April gold was $2.70 lower at $1,236.40. China's Dalian soybeans were moderately lower and Malaysian palm oil futures were moderately higher.
