By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was fractionally higher, May soybeans were fractionally higher, and July Kansas City wheat was fractionally higher. CME Globex Recap: The grains are showing green early Wednesday, though as the recent track record has shown, that doesn't mean much for the rest of the day's trade. Outside markets cooled slightly with energies mostly lower and gold showing only a small gain of $1.10. The U.S. dollar index was higher, again, while DJIA futures were showing a small loss following the Big Board's strong rally Tuesday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 348.58 points higher at 16,865.08, the NASDAQ Composite was up 131.65 points at 4,689.60, and the S&P 500 rallied 46.12 points to close at 1,978.35 Tuesday. DJIA futures were 49 points lower overnight. Asian markets were higher with the Nikkei up 661.04 points (4.1%) while China's Shanghai Composite gained 116.51 points (4.3%). European markets were mostly higher though London's FTSE 100 was down 8.78 points (0.1%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.049 higher at 98.401. Crude oil was down $0.72 at $33.68 while Brent crude fell $0.34 to $36.47. April gold was $1.80 higher at $1,232.60. China's Dalian soybean futures were higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower.
