By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was 1 cent lower, May soybeans were 1 cent lower, and July Kansas City wheat was 2 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Adding a new twist to the ongoing story of low volatility in grains, markets were quieter after the release of USDA's March reports than the overnight session before. All were lower due to the general consensus that ending stocks, unchanged or not, are still large enough to be cumbersome. Also, the U.S. dollar index remains firm ahead of Thursday's European Central Bank meeting. Outside markets were also lower with both metals and energies posting losses. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 36.26 points higher at 17,000.36, the NASDAQ Composite was up 25.56 points at 4,674.38, and the S&P 500 rallied 10.00 points to close at 1,989.26 Wednesday. DJIA futures were 13 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mixed with the Nikkei up 210.15 points (1.3%) while China's Shanghai Composite fell 57.83 points (2.0%). European markets were mostly lower ahead of Thursday's European Central Bank Meeting, with London's FTSE 100 down 33.91 points (0.5%). The U.S. dollar index was up 0.212 at 97.385. Crude oil was down $0.28 at $38.01 while Brent crude fell $0.47 to $40.60. April gold was $8.80 lower at $1,248.60. China's Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower.
