DTN Early Word Grains 03/14 05:57 Early Pi(e) Day sees Both Green and Red May corn was 1 cent higher, May soybeans were 3 cents lower, and July Kansas City wheat was 2 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was 1 cent higher, May soybeans were 3 cents lower, and July Kansas City wheat was 2 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: March 14, Pi(e) Day, showed grains mixed as soybeans again came under pressure from potential selling tied to South America. On the other hand, corn held firm following last Friday's CFTC Commitments of Traders report. Wheat contracts were mostly higher as the U.S. Southern Plains remains warm, windy, and dry. Markets as a whole are waiting for the FOMC's meeting this coming Wednesday and the resulting decision and comments regarding interest rates. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 218.18 points higher at 17,213.31, the NASDAQ Composite was up 86.31 points at 4,748.47, while the S&P 500 rallied 32.62 points to close at 2,022.19 Friday. DJIA futures were 21 points lower overnight. Asian markets were higher with the Nikkei up 294.88 points (1.7%) while China's Shanghai Composite rallied 49.19 points (1.7%). European markets were also higher with London's FTSE 100 up 27.41 points (0.5%). The U.S. dollar index was up 0.238 at 96.410. Crude oil was down $0.74 at $37.76 while Brent crude fell $0.70 to $39.69. April gold was $0.50 lower at $1,258.90. China's Dalian soybean futures were mixed while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower.
