DTN Early Word Grains 03/23 06:04 Grains Quiet as Winter Storm Approaches May corn was down 3/4 cent, May soybeans were down 2 3/4 cents, and July Kansas City wheat was up 1/4 cent. By Todd Hultman DTN Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was down 3/4 cent, May soybeans were down 2 3/4 cents, and July Kansas City wheat was up 1/4 cent. CME Globex Recap: Grain prices are starting steady to lower with quiet trading overnight as Wednesday's winter storm gears up in the western Plains. European stock market futures are moderately higher while April gold is down $14.90 and May crude oil is down 35 cents. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 41.30 points lower at 17,582.57; the NASDAQ Composite was up 12.79 points at 4,821.66, while the S&P 500 was down 1.80 points at 2,049.80 Tuesday. DJIA futures are 4 points lower overnight. Asian markets are steady to higher with the Nikkei unchanged while China's Shanghai Composite is up 10.6 points (.35%). European markets are steady to higher with London's FTSE 100 up 11.5 points (0.2%). The U.S. dollar index is up 0.28 at 95.93. Crude oil is down $0.35 at $41.10 while Brent crude is down $0.27 at $41.52. April gold was $14.70 lower at $1,233.90. China's Dalian soybean futures were higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were .5% lower.
