DTN Early Word Grains 03/29 05:57 Grains Quiet Again Early Tuesday May corn was fractionally higher, May soybeans were 1 cent higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 5 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was fractionally higher, May soybeans were 1 cent higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 5 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains were quiet again early Tuesday, not surprising with Thursday's USDA reports growing larger on the horizon. Soybeans and wheat were higher, the former erasing Monday's small loss while the latter continues to extend this week's gains. Corn did little, sitting near unchanged. Outside markets were lower with both energies and metals showing losses. The U.S. dollar index was near unchanged while DJIA futures were lower. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 19.66 points higher at 17,535.39; the NASDAQ Composite was down 6.71 points at 4,766.79, while the S&P 500 rallied 1.11 points to close at 2,037.05 Monday. DJIA futures were 38 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with the Nikkei down 30.84 points (0.2%) while China's Shanghai Composite fell 37.99 points (1.3%). European markets were also mostly lower with London's FTSE 100 down 7.70 points (0.1%). The U.S. dollar index was up 0.019 at 95.962. Crude oil was down $0.61 at $38.78 while Brent crude fell $0.74 to $39.53. June gold was $2.00 lower at $1,220.00. China's Dalian soybean futures were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher.
