DTN Early Word Grains 03/30 05:57 Another Day Closer to Fireworks May corn was less than 1 cent lower, May soybeans were less than 1 cent higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 1 cent lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 5:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was less than 1 cent lower, May soybeans were less than 1 cent higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 1 cent lower. CME Globex Recap: Grains were quiet again overnight as traders continue to sit on the sidelines ahead of Thursday's USDA Quarterly Stocks and Prospective Plantings reports. Corn contracts moved within 1 cent ranges while soybeans stayed firm. Support for commodities in general came from the continued sell-off in the U.S. dollar index following Chairwoman Yellen's speech Wednesday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 97.72 points higher at 17,633.11; the NASDAQ Composite was up 78.93 points at 4,846.62, while the S&P 500 rallied 17.96 points to close at 2,055.01 Tuesday. DJIA futures were 99 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher though the Nikkei was down 224.57 points (1.3%) while China's Shanghai Composite rallied 80.81 points (2.8%). European markets were higher with London's FTSE 100 up 94.43 points (1.5%). The U.S. dollar index was down 0.201 at 94.959. Crude oil was up $0.62 at $38.90 while Brent crude rallied $0.49 to $39.63. June gold was $0.90 higher at $1,238.40. China's Dalian soybean futures were mixed while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower.
