DTN Early Word Grains 04/05 05:55 Here's Something New: Corn More Bullish Early Tuesday May corn was 1 cent higher, May soybeans were unchanged, and July Kansas City wheat was 2 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was 1 cent higher, May soybeans were unchanged, and July Kansas City wheat was 2 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Continued commercial buying in corn overnight indicates domestic cash sales remain slow, despite abundant old-crop stocks, while demand picks up pace. Soybeans were near unchanged while wheat contracts were lower. The global investment community will keep a close eye on Japan's Nikkei following another 390 point sell-off overnight. DJIA futures are posting triple-digit losses Tuesday morning and the U.S. dollar index is posting a solid rally. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 55.75 points lower at 17,737.00, the NASDAQ Composite was down 22.74 points at 4,891.80, and the S&P 500 fell 6.65 points to close at 2,066.13 Monday. DJIA futures were 131 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with the Nikkei down another 390.45 points (2.4%) while China's Shanghai Composite rallied 43.54 points (1.5%). European markets were lower with London's FTSE 100 down 98.68 points (1.6%). The U.S. dollar index rallied 0.244 to 94.754. Crude oil was down $0.34 at $35.36 while Brent crude fell $0.37 to $37.32. June gold was $14.20 higher at $1,233.50. China's Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower.
