DTN Early Word Grains 04/07 05:57 Corn Explodes Overnight, Relatively Speaking May corn was fractionally higher, May soybeans were 1 cent lower, and July Kansas City wheat was 2 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was fractionally higher, May soybeans were 1 cent lower, and July Kansas City wheat was 2 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Grains were mixed early Thursday with corn once again posting small gains. Soybeans and Kansas City wheat continued under pressure while Chicago wheat held near unchanged. The sector as a whole seems to be at a point of indecision, waiting for some piece of news to provide direction. Outside markets were also mixed with crude oil showing small losses while gold posted a strong rally. DJIA futures and the U.S. dollar index were both lower following the release of the latest FOMC minutes Wednesday afternoon. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 112.73 points higher at 17,716.05, the NASDAQ Composite was up 76.79 points at 4,920.72, and the S&P 500 rallied 21.49 points to close at 2,066.66 Wednesday. DJIA futures were 69 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mixed with the Nikkei up 34.48 points (0.2%) while China's Shanghai Composite rallied 42.17 points (1.4%). European markets were mostly lower with London's FTSE 100 down 1.35 points. The U.S. dollar index slipped 0.022 to 94.408. Crude oil was down $0.03 at $37.72 while Brent crude dipped $0.01 to $39.83. June gold was $12.90 higher at $1,236.70. China's Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower.
