By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was slightly higher, May soybeans were 5 cents higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 1 cent higher. CME Globex Recap: This past weekend saw a number of market moving headlines leave their mark on overnight trade. First, the storm system forecast for much of U.S. Southern Plains HRW growing area dumped more rain than most had seen over the last six months, too much for the struggling crop in some areas. The meeting of key crude oil producing countries in Doha concluded with no agreement on a production freeze. And finally, Brazil's government took another step toward impeaching President Rousseff. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 28.97 points lower at 17,897.46, the NASDAQ Composite was down 7.67 points at 4,938.22, and the S&P 500 fell 2.05 points to close at 2,080.73 Friday. DJIA futures were 24 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with the Nikkei down 572.08 points (3.4%) and China's Shanghai Composite dropped 44.46 points (1.4%). European markets were also mostly lower with London's FTSE 100 down 10.39 points (0.2%). The U.S. dollar index lost 0.063 to 94.633. Crude oil was down $1.06 at $39.30 and Brent crude was down $0.93 at $42.17. However, both had cut overnight losses by more than half. June gold was $4.60 higher at $1,239.20. China's Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both higher.
