DTN Early Word Grains 04/25 05:56 Markets Lower Early Monday July corn was 1 cent lower, July soybeans were 7 cents lower, and July Kansas City wheat was 6 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: July corn was 1 cent lower, July soybeans were 7 cents lower, and July Kansas City wheat was 6 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: The majority of markets, including grains and most energies, were trading lower early Monday on follow-through selling from late last week. A few outlier commodities; sugar, cocoa, gold, and rice, were able to post gains. Both the U.S. dollar index and DJIA futures were lower as well. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 21.23 points higher at 18,003.75, the NASDAQ Composite was down 39.66 points at 4,906.23, and the S&P 500 gained 0.10 point to close at 2,091.58 Friday. DJIA futures were 18 points lower overnight. Asian markets were lower with the Nikkei down 133.19 points (0.8%) while China's Shanghai Composite lost 12.57 points (0.4%). European markets were mostly lower with London's FTSE 100 down 18.67 points (0.3%). The U.S. dollar index fell 0.231 at 94.885. Crude oil lost $0.56 to $43.17 and Brent crude dropped $0.49 to $44.62. June gold was $3.40 higher at $1,233.40. China's Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower Monday morning.
