DTN Early Word Grains 04/28 05:58 Fed Says "No", Grains Quietly Mixed Early Thursday July corn was 1 cent higher, July soybeans were 4 cents lower, and July Kansas City wheat was 1 cent higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: July corn was 1 cent higher, July soybeans were 4 cents lower, and July Kansas City wheat was 1 cent higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains were relatively quiet overnight with wheat posting small gains, corn near unchanged, and soybeans showing small losses. The big mover was the U.S. dollar index, down 0.600 following Wednesday's dovish comments by FOMC Chairwoman Yellen indicating no timeline for another interest rate hike. Also active was the DJIA futures, posting a triple-digit loss early Thursday. Outside commodities were mixed with crude oil posing a small gain and gold continuing its rally. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 51.23 points higher at 18,041.55, the NASDAQ Composite was down 25.41 points at 4,863.14, and the S&P 500 gained 3.46 points to close at 2,095.15 Wednesday. DJIA futures were 127 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with the Nikkei down 624.44 points (3.6%) while China's Shanghai Composite fell 8.08 points (0.3%). European markets were also mostly lower with London's FTSE 100 down 57.41 points (0.9%). The U.S. dollar index dropped 0.596 to 93.791. Crude oil was near unchanged at $45.33 and Brent crude held steady at $47.18. June gold was $8.00 higher at $1,258.40. China's Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower Thursday morning.
