DTN Closing Livestock Comment 05/13 16:09 Livestock Futures Close Mostly Lower The cattle complex settled mostly lower with feeder contracts experiencing triple-digit losses. Lean hog issues also settled under pressure with new spot June attracting most of the selling interest. By John Harrington DTN Livestock Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: From Friday to Friday livestock futures scored the following Changes: Jun LC, Up $2.70; Aug LC, Up $0.82; May FC, Off $0.32; Aug FC, Off $0.92, Jun LH, Up $0.68, Jul LH, Up $0.30. The cash cattle trade was not tested today following active business on Thursday. Sharply higher feedlot sales this week should encourage producers to price cattle higher again when trade resumes on Monday. According to the closing report, the national hog base is $0.31 higher compared with the Prior Day settlement ($67.00-76.50, weighted average $74.53). Corn futures closed up 1 3/4 cents in the July and up 2 cents in the December.
