DTN Early Word Grains 05/23 05:57 Beans Fall, Pull Grains Lower Early Monday July corn was 3 cents lower, July beans were 11 cents lower, and July Chicago wheat was 5 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: July corn was 3 cents lower, July beans were 11 cents lower, and July Chicago wheat was 5 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Soybeans were posting double-digit losses early Monday as selling interest intensified during the overnight session. Corn and wheat followed, though selling interest in corn seemed to be minimal. Outside commodities were also lower with metals and most energies posting losses. The U.S. dollar index was showing a small gain while DJIA futures were under pressure. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 65.54 points higher at 17,500.94, the NASDAQ Composite gained 57.03 points at 4,769.56, and the S&P 500 rallied 12.28 points to close at 2,052.32 Friday. DJIA futures were 28 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher though Japan's Nikkei was down 81.75 points (0.5%) while China's Shanghai Composite rallied 18.16 points (0.6%). European markets were mostly lower with London's FTSE 100 off 20.79 points (0.3%). The U.S. dollar index rallied 0.081 to 95.351. Crude oil fell $0.56 to $47.85 while Brent crude dipped $0.50 to $48.22. June gold was $1.20 lower at $1,251.70. China's Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were lower overnight.
