By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was fractionally higher, November soybeans beans were 1 cent higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 3 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains showed some activity overnight, most notably soybeans posting trading ranges of 13 cents (old-crop) to 15 cents (new-crop). December corn was quieter, posting a 4-cent range and failing to confirm its technical breakout above $4.46 3/4. Wheat contracts were higher, supported in part by a lower U.S. dollar index. The latter will be a key factor Wednesday, as the FOMC announces its decision on whether or not to raise interest rates. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 57.66 points lower at 17,674.82, the NASDAQ Composite lost 4.89 points to 4,843.55 and the S&P 500 fell 3.74 points to close at 2,075.32 Tuesday. DJIA futures were 49 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with Japan's Nikkei up 60.58 points (0.4%) while China's Shanghai Composite gained 45.02 points (1.6%). European markets were higher with London's FTSE 100 up 59.71 points (1.0%). The U.S. dollar index was down 0.106 to 94.822. Crude oil was off $0.41 to $48.08 while Brent crude was down $0.64 to $49.19. August gold was $3.00 lower at $1,285.10. China's Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower again overnight.
