DTN Early Word Grains 07/06 05:58 Turnaround Wednesday, Not So Much December corn was 3 cents lower, November soybeans were 10 cents lower, and September Kansas City wheat was 4 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 3 cents lower, November soybeans were 10 cents lower, and September Kansas City wheat was 4 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: The commodity sector was largely under pressure early Wednesday, with the bean complex once again one of the hardest hit. The U.S. dollar index extended its rally while DJIA futures were hinting at another triple-digit loss when the Dow opens later in the morning. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 108.75 points lower at 17,840.62, the NASDAQ Composite lost 39.67 points to 4,822.90 and the S&P 500 fell 14.39 points to close at 2,088.55 Tuesday. DJIA futures were 90 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with Japan's Nikkei down 290.34 points (1.8%) while China's Shanghai Composite gained 10.90 points (0.3%). European markets were lower with London's FTSE 100 down 25.11 points (0.4%), Germany's DAX was 163.17 points (1.7%) lower, and France's CAC 40 lost 73.23 points (1.7%). The U.S. dollar index was up 0.004 to 96.170. Crude oil was off $0.35 to $46.25 while Brent crude was down $0.40 to $47.56. August gold was $17.70 higher at $1,376.40. China's Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were lower again overnight.
