DTN Early Word Grains 07/15 05:58 Grains A Little Higher, Investors Cautious December corn was up 1/2 cent, November soybeans were up 7 cents, and September Chicago wheat was up 1 1/2 cents. By Todd Hultman DTN Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was up 1/2 cent, November soybeans were up 7 cents, and September Chicago wheat was up 1 1/2 cents. CME Globex Recap: All three grains were a little higher early Friday with traders tracking every change in weather. Financial investors were cautious overnight after hearing of another deliberate act of terrorism, this time in Nice, France. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 134.29 points higher at 18,506.41, the NASDAQ Composite was up 28.33 points at 5,034.06 and the S&P 500 rallied 11.33 points to close at 2,163.75 Thursday. DJIA futures were 12 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with Japan's Nikkei down 15 points (-0.1%) while China's Shanghai Composite was up .028 points (0.01%). European markets were lower with London's FTSE 100 down 28 points (-0.4%), Germany's DAX down 43 points (-0.4%) lower, and France's CAC 40 down 26 points (-0.6%). The U.S. dollar index was down 0.080 to 96.020. Crude oil was down $0.45 to $45.23 while Brent crude was down $0.49 at $46.88. August gold was $0.70 higher at $1,332.90. China's Dalian soybean futures were mixed while Malaysian palm oil futures were 30 ringgits higher (1.3%) overnight.
