DTN Early Word Grains 07/18 05:56 Grains Mixed, Hot Weather Ahead December corn was up 1 1/2 cents, November soybeans were down 10 1/4 cents, and September Chicago wheat was up 2 3/4 cents By Todd Hultman DTN Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was up 1 1/2 cents, November soybeans were down 10 1/4 cents, and September Chicago wheat was up 2 3/4 cents CME Globex Recap: Corn and wheat were a little higher early Monday while soybeans traded lower with traders looking at a hotter week of temperatures and rain on Monday morning's weather map. The U.S. dollar index is up .07 after a coup attempt failed in Turkey over the weekend. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 10.14 points higher at 18,516.55, the NASDAQ Composite was down 4.47 points at 5,029.59 and the S&P 500 was down 2.02 points to close at 2,161.73 Friday. DJIA futures were 14 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mixed with Japan's Nikkei up 65 points (0.4%) while China's Shanghai Composite was down 11 points (0.35%). European markets were mostly lower with London's FTSE 100 up 18 points (0.3%), Germany's DAX down 17 points (-0.17%), and France's CAC 40 down 16 points (-0.35%). The U.S. dollar index was up 0.070 to 96.650. Crude oil was down $0.04 to $46.61 while Brent crude was up $0.01 at $47.62. August gold was $0.90 higher at $1,328.30. China's Dalian soybean futures were steady to lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were 19 ringgits higher (.8%) overnight.
