DTN Early Word Grains 07/19 05:57 Grains Lower as Ratings Stay High December corn was down 5 1/4 cents, November soybeans were down 12 3/4 cents, and September Chicago wheat was down 3 1/4 cents. By Todd Hultman DTN Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was down 5 1/4 cents, November soybeans were down 12 3/4 cents, and September Chicago wheat was down 3 1/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: All three grains were lower early Tuesday after USDA showed another week of corn and soybean ratings higher than a year ago. This week's intense heat will stress crops, but is expected to ease off after Saturday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 16.50 points higher at 18,533.05, the NASDAQ Composite was up 26.19 points at 5,055.78 and the S&P 500 was up 5.16 points to close at 2,166.89 Monday. DJIA futures were 19 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mixed with Japan's Nikkei up 15 points (0.1%) while China's Shanghai Composite was down 7 points (0.2%). European markets were mostly lower with London's FTSE 100 down 41 points (0.6%), Germany's DAX down 143 points (-1.4%), and France's CAC 40 down 32 points (-0.7%). The U.S. dollar index was up 0.200 at 96.760. Crude oil was down $0.08 to $45.86 while Brent crude was down $0.08 at $46.88. August gold was $3.50 higher at $1,332.80. China's Dalian soybean futures were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were 25 ringgits higher (1.1%) overnight.
