DTN Early Word Grains 07/20 05:58 Thermometers Rise, Grain Prices Stay Cool December corn was up 1 cent, November soybeans were down 2 1/4 cents, and September Chicago wheat was up 1 cent. By Todd Hultman DTN Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was up 1 cent, November soybeans were down 2 1/4 cents, and September Chicago wheat was up 1 cent. CME Globex Recap: Overnight trading was quiet as all three grains stayed near Tuesday's closes. Hotter temperatures that have been talked about for a week arrive on Wednesday with triple digits expected in South Dakota. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 25.96 points higher at 18,559.01, the NASDAQ Composite was down 19.41 points at 5,036.37 and the S&P 500 was down 3.11 points to close at 2,163.78 Tuesday. DJIA futures were 69 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mixed with Japan's Nikkei up 26 points (0.1%) while China's Shanghai Composite was down 9 points (0.3%). European markets were mostly higher with London's FTSE 100 up 20 points (0.3%), Germany's DAX up 142 points (1.4%), and France's CAC 40 up 53 points (1.2%). The U.S. dollar index was up 0.060 at 97.120. Crude oil was up $0.03 to $45.48 while Brent crude was up $0.12 at $46.78. August gold was $6.60 lower at $1,325.70. China's Dalian soybean futures were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were 42 ringgits higher (1.8%) overnight.
