By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 2 cents higher, November soybeans were 9 cents higher, and September Chicago wheat was 2 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains were higher early Thursday, but once again failed to keep up with overnight temperatures across the U.S. Midwest. Most of the expanded Corn Belt saw lows in the upper 70s to low 80s, well above normal for this time of year. As for rains, the lone system is up in northern Minnesota/Wisconsin Thursday morning. Grains could see a slight reprieve from this week's onslaught of selling, with light support tied to the lower U.S. dollar index. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 36.02 points higher at 18,595.03, the NASDAQ Composite gained 53.56 points to 5,089.93 and the S&P 500 rallied 9.24 points to close at 2,173.02 Wednesday. DJIA futures were 22 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mixed with Japan's Nikkei up 128.33 points (0.8%) while China's Shanghai Composite rallied 11.11 points (0.4%). European markets were mostly lower with London's FTSE 100 down 31.27 points (0.5%), Germany's DAX was 30.60 points (0.3%) lower, and France's CAC 40 lost 22.95 points (0.5%). The U.S. dollar index fell 0.318 to 96.885. Crude oil added $0.06 to $45.81 while Brent crude gained $0.04 to $47.20. August gold was $3.40 higher at $1,322.70. China's Dalian soybean futures were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher overnight.
